With the running in of our 992 GT3 RS now complete, it was time to start making some proper changes and performance modifications to this already track-focused car. Some of you may have seen these updates on our Instagram stories, the modifications in question, we will go through in much more detail below.

Starting with the exhaust, we opted to change out the entire factory system. This wasn’t a difficult decision as there are several benefits to swapping out all the exhaust components.

 

Replacing the factory manifolds with our own OEM replacement Cat sections results in a reasonable weight saving as well as a healthy increase in power. You can read more about the JCR 992 GT3 / RS Exhaust testing HERE

We selected to use our OEM cat replacements on our car over the Superlight set up as this meant that we had still had the modularity available to us to be able to install the OEM rear section or one of our three race pipe options, plus continue development on our Titanium Super Silent Race Pipe which will be coming soon.

Speaking of Race Pipes, we made the decision to install one of our Titanium Silenced Race pipes ahead of our first Track Event. This will allow us to carry out some serious testing for noise readings ahead of the Spa test at the end of the month.

To finish it all off we also installed a brand-new product for us here at JCR. We installed a set of our Titanium megaphone tips that have been treated to a developmental coating. This coating should in theory greatly reduce or even completely remove the colour changing characteristics that Titanium usually undergoes when running to exhaust temperatures. This means that the tips will constantly be the nice, raw titanium colour that we all see when we open our JCR shipment for the first time. Testing will prove if this coating is suitable and can endure hard track miles over an extended period.

Now that we’ve taken care of the exhaust on our 992 GT3 RS (for now.) it’s time to make some serious changes to the handling of this car. Over the years we have meticulously developed a range of geometry settings to assist in driver confidence and vehicle handling based on the specific requirements of drivers and how they choose to use their cars.

For this car, we chose to install our track geo. With the amount of mileage that we’ll be completing on track, we wanted to ensure that the car was reasonably track biased for the first track test. We're also keen to see the potential in the factory spring and damper set-up before making any drastic changes from the OEM suspension.

Starting with ride height, we lowered the car all round, more so at the rear. This allowed us to gain a better rake, whilst also lowering the centre of gravity for improved stability as well as giving the car a much more aggressive aesthetic.

In addition to lowering the car, we have also adjusted camber, caster and toe settings to the front and rear of the car. This was possible by installing the Suspension Secrets Camber blocks. You can read more about the Suspension Secrets Camber blocks HERE

For the brakes, we have done our usual thing of changing the factory brake lines to the Manthey Racing braided lines, this results in subtle, yet noticeable increase in brake pedal feel, having that confidence when stopping is paramount to both safety and lap times.

We also made the choice to use Endless Brake Fluid. This again, is linked to performance, with a higher boiling point than the OEM brake fluid, it gives increased braking feel and performance for a longer period of time, reducing the effects of brake fade when running longer stints on track.

We also got in touch with our good friends at Brake Caliper Refurbs. The guys over there were able to paint a set of brand new OEM Porsche Brake Calipers in Satin silver to compliment the satin silver touches and details included on the car.

A modification that doesn’t yield any performance benefit but certainly ties in the whole look of the car. We couldn’t be happier with how they came out and we can’t thank the guys enough for the quality of product as well as the time in which they were turned around.

Moving inside the car, the team at JZM have installed a pair of SCHROTH harnesses, an absolute necessity to any track day car. The guys also installed a set of seat tilts to the Fixed Carbon Bucket Seats. Porsche makes some of the best bucket seats out there, but, for us, we like to have a little bit more angle in the seat to predominantly allow use of a HANS device when driving.

These seat tilts do just that by angling the seat base up towards the rear of the car, providing a slightly more reclined seating position as well as some more under leg support. Certainly a nice modification for road or track driving.
