ALREADY 1,000 MILES IN… AND JUST GETTING STARTED
With just over 1,000 miles on the clock, it’s fair to say the JCR 911 Touring hasn’t exactly had a gentle introduction to life on the road. As much as we love putting our cars through their paces on track, real-world road testing is just as important and just two days after collection, that’s exactly what we set out to do.

WARWICKSHIRE TO WINDERMERE.

Our journey began in Warwickshire, pointing the Touring north toward Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Storm Claudia decided to join us for the ride, adding its own “unique” flavour of horizontal rain, wild gusts, and some truly impressive puddles. Fortunately, the Touring setup took it all in stride.
A last-minute decision to swap out the Pirelli Pzero R's for a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 tyres turned out to be a stroke of genius. With the roads serving up everything from deep standing water to unexpectedly slick surfaces, we were extremely happy to have rubber that matched the conditions. Sometimes the best upgrades are the ones you make the day before you leave.
If you’ve ever driven in the Lake District, you’ll know exactly what we were dealing with: narrow, winding country lanes, constant elevation changes, sudden blind bends, sheep with zero road awareness, and weather that can switch seasons between one valley and the next.
This is where our Touring setup truly shone. Composed, communicative, confidence-building, the car made even the trickiest sections feel enjoyable. It handled the technical, single-track roads with ease, giving us the perfect balance of performance and comfort for long stints behind the wheel.
Two days of exploring the dramatic landscapes around Windermere reminded us how special this part of the country is and how rewarding a well set-up car can feel when the road demands your full attention.
THE LAKE DISTRICT TO THE COTSWOLDS

By the time we started the next leg of our adventure towards the Cotswolds, Storm Claudia had finally moved on. In its place: endless blue skies, crisp winter air, and dry roads that felt like a well-deserved reward after the storm-soaked miles up north.
Gloucestershire welcomed us with picture-perfect villages, rolling countryside, and the kind of sweeping B-roads that make you want to take the long way around, so naturally, we did.
Even in picture-perfect surroundings, the roads themselves are anything but uniform. We found ourselves navigating everything from narrow, uneven stretches between hedgerows to sudden dips, tight bends, wandering pheasants, and the occasional deer making a surprise appearance. Classic Cotswolds.
But the Touring? It felt incredible. The chassis soaked up the imperfections with ease, staying composed even over the smallest, bumpiest backroads. Steering remained sharp and communicative, giving us total confidence whether threading through a tight village lane or opening the car up on wider, flowing B-roads. It’s the kind of drive where you feel connected not just to the car, but to the landscape around you. The new 992.2 damper technology is a HUGE step up from the Gen1 model. Especially noticeable over the bumps.
The mix of stunning scenery, crisp winter air, and a car that felt perfectly in its element made the Cotswolds leg of the trip something truly special. After hundreds more miles, the Touring continued to deliver exactly what it promised: balance, capability, and pure enjoyment, no matter what the road threw at it.

One thing that made this trip even more memorable was the soundtrack. With the new JCR Titanium Valved Race Pipe and Titanium Cup Tips installed, the Touring delivered a tone that matched the character of every road we explored, refined when cruising, alive and engaging when pushed. It made the entire journey feel that much more immersive.
Looking back on this trip, it’s hard not to feel a little attached to the Touring already. It’s tackled storms, soaked up rough roads, handled tiny villages and wide-open B-roads, and made every mile feel rewarding. What was meant to be a test ended up becoming a reminder of how special these cars can feel when the surroundings, the weather, and the machine all come together.
We learnt a lot about the car on this trip and has sparked some creativity in our brains for a few more set-up changes and new product ideas to conclude in making the touring ready for absolutely everything. There’s certainly something to be said for the new folding bucket seats. Although more practical than the outgoing buckets, they do lack lower back support and the seat angle still leaves something to be desired. We’ll be taking care of those two points in the very near future.
However, if this is how good the Touring feels just a couple of days after collection, we can only imagine what the next 1,000 miles will bring. One thing’s for sure, we’re nowhere near done exploring.
